Networking for Success

What is the difference between the MLM's and Network Marketing?

I know it is misleading, but I have been studying this for awhile.

My MLM section speaks of the pushy sales tactics used to build downlines of salespersons undet themselves for the purpose of taking profits from their efforts in selling something. This is a pyramid scheme and their profits increase as they get part of their downline profits, and so on, and so on. Theoretically, when they have built enough of a downline, they can sit back and relax and do nothing and wait for their checks - as long as they have an active downline.

Network Marketing is not the same. In Network Marketing the main difference is that you are benefitting from the efforts and relationships of others throughout the Network, whether or not you gain some profits as new people join "under" you. You might receive help from people at all levels in your Network. From the very top and throughout the Network, you find mentors, personal relationships, and help you learn. Everyone wants EVERYONE to succeed, but USUALLY in their product line - not with your own websites.

Networking Benefits

When you join the right Network, you have access to meeting people and "networking" with them which can benefit you both. The network of people you associate with, as in life and business anywhere else, provides you with education and relationships, and YOU benefit and YOU, in turn, provide all others in the Network the benefits of what you have to offer also. Everybody WINS!

While some people do use their charisma to charm new members into a Network program, so many people are wary of these tactics that they are "turned off" before even hearing about the program.

Now the Internet has become the new place to learn. From Personal Development to Sales Training and Marketing, you can build relationships with those that can help you by "joining the right Network".

Via the Internet you can read and present persuasive sales ad copy to offer the program's benefits to people. They can be convinced to join without using the pressure of personal contact and the too-typical pushy sales ploys.

You can see why Networking can be helpful offline in your business endevours. It is understandable why Networking online is also providing clear benefits.

When we begin the difficult task of becoming profitable with our work-from-home Internet Business, we usually have websites that offer services or products. Then we run our marketing campaigns and wait for the profits to come it. Soon we discover that it wasn't that easy. It IS ALL ABOUT MARKETING, right?

We wonder what we need to do to build traffic and make a profit. If it just doesn't happen, we consider quitting and just give up.

OR, we proceed to look for help from others. Options include:

  • Joint Ventures
  • Networking
  • Mentoring or Coaching Programs

Joint Venture partners are wonderful if you have a great product and a professional website and just need a boost with a good recommendation to a big "list". Don't bother asking for a joint venture though, if you don't have your "ducks in a row" already. You will be rejected, as you should be. JV partners only want to promote and refer their list members to a professional well-designed website offering a great product. Oh, and expect to offer them a big portion of the profits you make for each sale they refer.

Networking is tricky, but it can help you out. Typically, people in a network you join want you to succeed and will offer their advice, whatever THAT is worth. They may even want to purchase your products and refer your website to others. If their advice is good and if your website is ready, joining a network may be a good idea - if it's the RIGHT network. The danger is that there are WAY TOO MANY network options that are simply MLM's or scams that won't care about your success. I've learned to avoid them, though I have mentioned my specific experiences in my SCAM Report - under NOT Recommended.

Mentoring used to be so expensive that I avoided it. I did know who the experts were, but their coaching programs were too costly. I also didn't want to spend huge sums for travelling to seminars they hosted, even though their "networking" relationships might have been good for my business.

Frankly, I didn't feel any of my websites were "ready". I wanted more help getting them to be profitable standing on their own. I knew I needed expert help. But was unsure where to turn for help..

How to Be Successful in YOUR Internet Business:
    1. Read everything you can find online and offline for free or at very low cost and try these methods yourself with no training or support. Most people give up after a few months or pursue another option below.
    2. Purchase a training guide from a VERY credible Internet Marketing expert or institution. Follow it without any personal support. This costs anywhere from $200 to $500 and up. Some people can make a profit from this method, without any personal coaching, but most do not.
    3. Sign up for mentoring for your website business with a VERY credible expert (like those listed in my Recommended List). This can cost upwards of $7000 or more.
    4. Join a Network of individuals who will train you and work personally with you to learn the magic of successful business practices and personal development. These lessons can be used to pursue any business you wish, either online or off.

Recently there has been a new trend in Networking/Coaching that is worth considering.

One is the StomperNet System by Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon. They have taken the Internet Marketing world by storm. It isn't quite as expensive as one-on-one coaching and you receive all the benefits of their training, forums, linking opportunities, and site reviews by the folks in the network. It does take some time though. The DVD's that arrive at your door include hours upon hours of recorded information that will help you learn the ebiz. Many of my RECOMMENDED experts have been working with and promoting StomperNet. It is credible, if not expensive.

Other real credible experts in Internet Marketing have started good coaching programs. I have joined some and learned a lot.

    Learn from My EXPENSIVE Mistake

I also paid for a coaching program that I found very disappointing. Here's a quick summation:

When you fill-in a form that says you are interested in work-from-business opportunities, you leave yourself open to receive phone calls from sales people that are persuasive and trained to talk you into working with them, i.e. paying them to help you. They may promise you that you will earn your costs back many times after learning from their program. BEWARE!

In my SCAM Report, I wrote the details about the EXPENSIVE mistake I made with my first coaching program. It was presented via several phone calls, and even after doing my online research, I did not find any negative comments about the company.

It's not that I didn't learn something, but it did NOT deliver as promised. Frankly, they helped me with a specific website and ensured me that it would soon become famously popular and profitable. It did not.

Oh, the traffic increased with article marketing and natural SEO. I probably linked it to directories quite sufficiently. But it has only earned me a few dollars in affiliate sales. It never converted.

What I needed was an honest review of that website business model. I did not get it. I put more details about my coaching disaster in my SCAM Report. I won't name any names here tho.

Unfortunately I'm still paying for that expensive coaching program (on my business credit cards) and I didn't make a dime on it. Wouldn't you think an expensive coaching program would have helped me make some real profits with their program?

I also realized that I didn't even like the domain name I had selected for that site (and have since obtained another). Now I am still dealing with the dilemna of how to transfer to the new domain name - since it's all linked in.

You can check out my two websites that are NOT converting to sales, even though I have lots of subscribers and visitors that want "inexpensive decorating ideas". Yes, I ranked for that keyword, but SO WHAT? Here are my links:

  • Furniture-Shop-Online.com (now simply a redirect to the site below)
  • Inexpensive Decorating Ideas.com

Since the first is linked to furniture shopping directories and published articles, but ranked for the keyword of the domain name of the second, I have a problem. Do I redirect the first to the second? UPDATE: Yes, I now have the furn site redirected to the decorating site and may eventually stop paying to renew the furn domain name. Meanwhile, my traffic is almost completely dropped off at furn and YEA - most of my traffic is going directly to my decorating site. Double Yea! The downside: nobody buys the furniture. I'm getting some adsense revenue but not enough to matter. I am not sure what to do next. I may drop this site someday.

The LESSON: Don't pay for expensive coaching unless it is HIGHLY recommended by someone you trust!

The Answer: Affordable Coaching from Credible Experts I Trust

I actually found an affordable coaching program that will help me with every problem I've encountered.

IT IS NEW! They won't just work with me on ONE website. They will help me with my product focus, my sales offers, my keywords, and my emails to my "list" - for every website I need help with (all of them, unfortunately).

I can't recommend my new coaching program enough - inexpensive one-on-one help with everything! Oh, yeah, I still have to DO the WORK - but that's fine.

My commitment is on a monthly basis and it is affordable. I can cancel at any time. I can use their forum and all the training materials I need to get the help I am missing. They provide one-on-one help in their forums.

They have buddy lists and encourage we help each other too.

This is the right way to get expert help that is affordable. Read more about the Wealthy Affiliate program and join my buddy list!
