Write Articles and Get Free Publicity

If you are able to write good content for your website, surely you can parse some of it out and submit it as an article to another website or ezine. You can also try to get your articles published in newspapers and magazines. People do this more and more for free advertising. In fact, there are whole Internet Marketing strategies built around this concept.

The most famous Internet expert to use and explain the strategy of free advertising and publicity is Mr. Fire, Dr. Joe Vitale. I have heard him speak and he is exceptional, humble and a hoot. He wrote books about and re-popularized P.T.Barnum, who became famous for publicity, and for his circus near the end of his career. Barnum used publicity stunts for free media coverage for all his businesses and was successful before his circus fame.

Dr. Joe has certainly capitalized on this strategy with his "Canine Concert" in Austin TX, known as "the first ever concert for dogs". He had a battle of the bands to play music in the park for dogs, at a decible level that can only be heard by canine ears.

Plus he had other events tied in with the Canine Concert, like a "real" mermaid, and a magician who appeared out of a six foot copy of his latest book, "There's a Customer Born Every Minute - P.T. Barnum Returns". He also had a simultaneous coordinated website and autoresponder campaign. It was a "howling" success!

Dr. Joe is known as the master of hypnotic marketing and publicity. He says "Dare Something Worthy". It makes me wonder how daring I will be with my publicity ideas when I have my websites ready to market to the world. How daring will YOU be?

Dr. Joe said it is natural to feel nervous as you approach publicity events and don't let that stop you. Also, obviously, some money is involved for big launches. More for big events, etc. Gotta be realistic when it comes to the budget. Read more on Joe Vitale.

But, writing an article is free! Don't overlook the option to submit content to major (and minor) ezine publishers. If they have big "lists", your article can generate traffic for your website.

Good rules to follow when writing articles include the following:

  • Choose on good keyword phrase that you wish to be "ranked for" per webpage, or article.
  • Use this keyword in a catchy title and at least 10 times in a 300-500 word article. Don't highlight or bold the keyword though.
  • Be sure the first paragraph is compelling and invites your visitors to keep reading. Use the keyword once near the beginning of that paragraph and once near the end of that paragraph.
  • Use the keyword again near the very end of the article, in a summary paragraph.
  • Using these rules will make it easy for the search engines to realize that your topic focuses on your keyword and will rank it accordingly.

Add a standard About the Author sentence at the bottom which includes a link to your website which is about that topic. It can even be to a specific landing page where you discuss the topic further or sell products related to that topic.

Once you are satisfied your article is ready, go to a few article submission sites, like ezine.com or digg.com and submit your article. If you know a website that specializes your niche, product, or topic, submission there is even better.
